Orthographe company presents a kind of archaeology of vision, trasforming the performance space into an optical chamber. The actors'movements take place in a lit room located behind the spectators who, separeted from the action by a wall containing a lens for the projections of live images, watch the performance that is taking place behind them. The show is based upon La Nouvelle Iconographie de la Saletrière, photographic albums depicting the young women committed in the Paris hospital at the end of the nineteenth century, where every tuesday Professor Charcot held his lectures on the grande hystérie, bringing to life as if they were authentic performances. What appears is the evanescence of every appearing; what one sees is the astonishment of seeing, embodied here in the form amd folds of a nymph's veil.
