If the key to contemporary life lies in myth, then the body and voice of the actress contain the key to contemporary art: Daria Lippi, an actress from Modena who worked with Cesare Ronconi, Thierry Salmon and Cesare Lievi before joining Eric Lacascade’s group, is the body and soul of Pour Penthesilée, a stage narrative which re-evokes in a solo at the frontiers between dance, drama and video technology, the Amazon of the Greek myth transformed in the wake of nineteenth-century, Romantic turbulence by the German poet Heinrich von Kleist. But it is also a show built on half-glances in a project that rejects conventional modes of creation: a single interpreter and a tacit exchange between director and choreographers. Eric Lacascade, who has for years worked with the actress at the Centre dramatique national de Caen, is the director. The choreographers are Héla Fattoumi, Loïc Touzé, Régine Chopinot.
Pour Penthesilée took shape during a long series of workshop sessions, both group and individual, in one-to-one exchanges between each author and Daria Lippi. Differences in approach to style and pacing gradually left their mark in the voice and body of the actress as the collective identity of the performance emerged.
