My first solo Questo e quell’altro was created in 1984.
My fourth solo Alma, which starts with a poem by Pablo Neruda, touches strong emotions as love, loneliness, sense of death.
Alma, which means soul in Spanish, contains in its sound: animal, calm, karma, lament…
“I’m the sparrow who sleeps on your soul”.
The work focuses on what is contrast and opposite inside us and on the desire to react to this condition. There are also other poems by Pablo Neruda, Cesare Pavese, and aphorisms and magic by Alda Merini.
Music becomes, in certain moments, one thing with dance and voice. Composers are: De Andrè, King Krimson, Death in Vegas, John Oswald.
Although in my performances the haunting element is orienting, the spectator is always tempted to make his own path through it, he always recognise something which is linked with his own experience, to his way of perceiving life.
When people ask me what kind of dance I work on, the answer is always long and ends with an invitation to come and see and feel the live performance, because it’s closer to the experience of a walk in the country or to an act of love than to the comprehension of an abstract concept linked to a mental construction.
‘The poetical theatre of movement’ is a definition which may be close to what I do on stage.
