"Jacqueline Du Pré died at the age of 42. The age I am now. Nostalgia took me to seek the complicity with the dead ones, the fear to be aged took me to seek the complicity with the dead. The fear of exclusion for the living took me to seek the complicity with the dead. There was a moment when I felt the need of communicating with Jacqueline, of talking to her. I wanted her to explain me the dreadful conflict incarnated in her body, between the matter and the spirit. I wanted to talk to her about music. Not with the living ones, not with the living ones. And I wanted to work from what she would leave to say. I remember "Opening Night" of Cassavettes, when Gena Rowlands goes to a seance. She looks for the hope, a reply, a bit of mercy. Mercy is what I seek between the dead ones, understanding why I am still alive, why I am still alive and not Jacqueline."

Angélica Liddell
Angélica Liddell, born in 1966 in Figueres, has founded the company Atra Bilis Teatro in 1993, whose name comes from a Latin expression used in the ancient medicine to describe the black mood, considered the cause of melancholy.
A name as a programme, developed in about twenty pieces written by the artist, writer, director and performer of her own creations.
Her words, made of a stark and violent poetry, are the ones of the intimate and collective suffering, both inseparable for Angélica Liddell. Her works have been translated into French, English, Romanian, Russian and Portuguese. In 2003 she won the award Maison de l’Amérique with La pasiòn anotada de Nubila Wahlheim for the innovation of her dramaturgy.
