A cult artist for more than one generation of artists and audience, Danio Manfredini, author of a dramaturgy conceived in a transitional phase of his creations, in the middle of his artistic maturity, he chooses to compare himself with a colossal text of theatrical dramaturgy: Hamlet. Always interested in the present time and in human condition, Manfredini takes Shakespeare’s work as a map that draws an itinerary through scenic pictures and that catches human being while facing the inevitably passages of the existential track, turning out the contemporaneity of this text. Hamlet has been represented so many times and in so many ways that Manfredini assumes it in the common imaginary and in the value of a theatrical icon. The author suggests the play in a way that keep in consideration the stratification of the different theatrical languages explored by himself during the years of his career. At VIE he will propose this study based on this work in progress.

Danio Manfredini

Danio Manfredini starts his training as author and actor at the beginning of the 70s; his theatrical research method is characterized by a strong rigour and it’s directed out of every pre-established way, seemingly anarchical, but based on a hard, ethical and expressive discipline.
A very important reference point Danio Manifredini’s theatre it’s painting, meant in the most intimate and deep sense of inner visions that strongly characterize the meeting between the audience and the actor.
Among his play we mention La crociata dei bambini inspired from the poem by Bertold Brecht (1984), Notturno (1985), Miracolo della rosa (1988) which made him win the award Ubu ’89, the recital for sax and voice Misty (1989), La vergogna (1990), Tre studi per una crocifissione (1992).
In 1999 he won the award Premio Ubu ’99 with Al presente.
On the 8th July 2003 Cinema Cielo debuted at the Festival Santarcangelo dei Teatri.
He’s actor with Pippo Delbono, Cesare Ronconi, Il Teatro delle Valdoca.

In the theatre season 2006/2007 he presented a revival of Tre Sudi per una Crocefissione, while on the 14th July 2007 Il sacro segno dei mostri debuted at Mittelfest, a work in which Manfredini guides us in the most deep heart of his universe, the painting atelier he has directed for more than a decade in a mental hospital.
The notes he derives from this experience constitute the material for this very touching and sincere work.
