Pippo Delbono opens the seventh edition of VIE with his new creation, a visionary and multifaceted show, a sequence of dramaturgical paintings that portrays the violent, corrupt, confused and turbulent time of our days. Without a proper plot, Dopo la Battaglia is a series of dramas, a real journey through rooms and empty spaces which are still characterized by the signs and the colours of the interior battle of the human being. On stage there will be historical members of the company that reach dreamlike situations which bring them to metamorphosis. An outlined work by the members of his company that with the collaboration of two great artists, the dancer Marigia Maggipinto, an historical member of Pina Bausch’s ballet, and Alexander Balanescu, composer and a violin virtuoso, author of the show soundtrack. An extremely suggestive show that trespass theatre’s borders.

Based on the echo of poets like Antonin Artaud, Franz Kafka, Alda Merini, Pier Paolo Pasolini, Walt Whitman, Rainer Maria Rilke, Alejandra Pizarnik. The scene is composed by words and verse to the tune of Verdi, Elis Regina, Irene Jacob, Niccolò Paganini, Maria Salgado that interweave with Balanescu’s original music.
Pippo Delbono invites his audience to rebellion, revolution, to search the peace after the battle. Icon of the show is in fact Bobò, whom meeting with Delbono has been great both as artist and as man: because of his years in a madhouse, deafness and mutism, Bobò is a strong exhortation to get through confused and turbulent time we are living in. The show represents an important step in Delbono’s artistic career, it gives an innovative inspiration to his language, heading on video effects and cinematographic atmospheres, on images taken with Delbono’s mobile phone, going on with his feature film ‘La Paura’ (The fear), realized using a mobile phone and moved onto movie film by Bologna’s film library.
In the shape of an espanso theatre, draw with bodies and texts, with shape of telling and representing, of tunes that within music and dance become actions, in a theatre that becomes body of its time, of our time.
