Winter wedding is the diary of our everyday life, mine and of Paola, written during the winter 2008-2009, after 20 years of life in the country and 10 years of theatre made touring in Italy and in Europe.
But is also the story of our love and of the love that ties us to Ariette, to our fields and to our animals, to friends and life companions. Love for the theatre, for cooking, for agriculture. Love for the time that passes and transform life, bodies, thoughts and feelings.
It’s an intimate and delicate show, fragile and sincere.
It’s faithful to our poetic and coherent with the choices we did during the 20 years of what I call our “second life”.
20 years of everyday experience that took us in a territory where loneliness is the only basic condition of our staying in front of nature.
Alone and in the same time brothers, of the stones, of the animals, of the flowers and of the sky.
Grains of sand and parts of the whole. Married to life every day, with no way out, with no possible separation.
Paola and me, in these 20 years, we were not able to share completely this experience with other people. We did it by pieces, chips and fragments, sometimes with one person, sometimes with another, here and there. I always tell myself that is normal, that is good like this.
Around the table of Winter wedding with me and Paola, there is Ferro.
He too, after all, is outside of our life experience, but I feel like in the end he is the only one that silently attented to it, even without marrying it, witness of a marriage that is not his one.
And so today we open our kitchen, the kitchen of our memory, so that our insatiable desire of an impossible sharing can soften only (and provisionally) when you arrive and sit around the table and look at us waiting for something.
In that moment the ceremony of the winter wedding begins.

Teatro delle Ariette
Teatro delle Ariette is a cultural association, studying, producing and promoting theatre. It was born in 1996 and since then it has created, performed and/or promoted events in houses, bakeries, hospitals, schools, streets, piazzas and in fields, but also in important national and international theatres. The association is named after the name of the farm where everything started: The “Ariette” (Castello di Serravalle in the Bologna municipality), and where we (Berselli and Pasquini) have been living since 1989, leading the farm. In 1999, in the middle of the fields, we autonomously built the “Deposito Attrezzi” (=the warehouse) literally with our hands, intended as a country building for theatre. We are authors, builders and producers of our theatre in every sense. Teatro delle Ariette is not only a company of players, but something more: an experience, a daily practice to search a place where art, life and work live together and are the same thing.
Our theatre is a “land theatre”, made by hand, experienced through the body. Our search is a journey trough what is human, a constant work to open the door that brings inside: in the invisible theatre of the heart. Where our theatre is.
