Gesture, sound and light merge in Barok. The sound and the silhouette of a human figure, body form and sides, perform an idea of movement that takes inspiration from water, fire, wind, animals, flowers, machineries and electric pulses.
Sound and gestures let sensations run together, creating a rhythmic and mental landscape where light builds traces of an abstract cimena. The spectator, immersed within this flux, is encouraged to discover and reflect upon shifts in direction and meaning.
Barokthegreat
Barokthegreat combine musical and choreographic research. Building on their site
specific collaboration with the London based director Simon Vincenzi, at Sujet à
Vif/Festival d’Avignon, they created their first work ‘Barok’, which they premiered at the Grand Theatre of Groningen in 2008. In 2009 Xing commissioned Wrestling for F.I.S.Co. - intuizioni sul mondo in attesa che diventino una costruzione compiuta, happening dal particolare formato inclusivo, sperimentato prima dalla compagnia Kinkaleri e poi da MK.That same year they also won the international experimental audio-visual competition ‘So Fresh!’
Barokthegreat work with different genres and formats looking for their own idea of
composition and harmony.
