This is the war, the daily war, weapons are the words, just the words, words as strokes of a duel, where everyday life turns into unreality.

Renata Molinari

Carmen Blanco, director-assistant for several works by Thierry Salmon, measures herself with this project which starts from a text by Renata Molinari who also used to work with Thierry Salmon as dramatist. The text is structured as a duel and it is divided in five scenes: proves for a duel, falling proves, the challenge (preliminaries and investiture), the duel (wounds on dumb bodies), the final crash. At VIE the third and fourth scenes will be presented: they are part of the third phase of the creation process, aimed to move closer to the final version of the show. A becoming work that, through different spaces and languages, wants to investigate the different subjects and images included in this poetic text.

“We feel more than ever the need to overcome classifications and barriers that separate languages, to mix them and, through multidisciplinarity, give back the immense complexity and richness of this text.
Parole da mangiare is a poetic text, opened, inhabited by echoes and by traces of people looking for love, for relationship. Relationship that goes through food, in its most daily and sensual rituality. Food becomes an excuse to drink, to be together, and a moment to approach the others.
Small talks from bars or restaurants, together with words about anorexia, anorexia of feelings.
A text that, through anguish and feeling of oppressive emptiness, expresses to the utmost the dismay of whom, walking through the street, hears some voices, looking around to notice nothing but sadism and auto-destructive masochism.
Words to eat, clear words gathered in a structure charged of an expressive violent strenght, words that give vent to an uneasy society where the fundamental values seem lost in a world where there is no place for feelings. We have no time, we are held in check.
The abstract shapes of bodies movement on the scene are the mirror of our tortuous visions.
Relatioship between performers is marked by the indifferent ones cynicism.
A dumb scream, because sometimes there is no strenght to cry out.
Because sometimes it is not possible to find words to express the necessity to breathe so it must be translated through the body.
All is left are just wounds on dumb bodies and a slow walk towards a duel that will culminate in a final struggle.”
