RUNNING TIME 60min

This work is the result of a meeting between Virgilio Sieni and Sandro Lombardi, two major italian contemporary theatre artists. The coreographer (Sieni) and the actor (Lombardi) work together for the first time on a project where dance and acting and continuosly relating and enriching each other. The piece is based upon Pasolini’s Ceneri di Gramsci (1957) a short poem about the contraddiction between marxist ideals and a religious view of reality.
The structure of the poem offers a start for a dramatic plot where the acting gives a musical base to the dancer, who creates his coreography. Silent breaks and filled with the dancer physical presence and movement. It’s physical presence of both body and voice that provides a common field to the two aspects of this theatre piece.
Words and dance combine and develop together, resounding into each other but keeping their respective identies through a clear reading of the poetic text.
A homage to the poet, a study on senses, body perceptions and history, leaving the scene open to the ambiguity of poetic language.
