VIAGGIO IN ARMENIA
Taken from a novel by the contemporary Russian poet Osip Mandel’štam, Viaggio in Armenia generates its journey from the wandering idea that the travel has in itself, thanks to an unusual theatrical adaptation. Inspired by a journey in Armenia taken in 1930, the novel seems to be a secrete meditation about time, memory and death. The eight chapters that compose the book become in the play the stages of the visit to an imaginary museum, in which the progressive undressing of the actor reveals “the stubborn advice of the fairy tales: the triumph over the law of necessity”. The pages of a stenographic diary give rise to images leading to different horizons.
