MOVIES' REVIEW

A small but precious movies' review which gathers "theatre people" confronting themselves with a medium apparently unknown to them to discover its imaginative potentialities, its technique and its craft. Sala Truffaut gives hospitality, under cinema's sign, to Pippo Delbono's last movie Grido, which in a continuous switching between indoor shots (in the theatre) and outdoor shots (in the city, in the nature) tells us, through the scenes of his performances, about life, which is at the same time a human and artistic walk indissolubly linked together by shouts of joy, anger, by continuous falls and rises. Due amici, realized by Spiro Scimone and Francesco Sframeli in 2001 and produced by Medusa, in 2002 won the golden lion at Venezia's Festival of Cinema as best première work. The movie, talked in strict dialect of Messina, is based on their first theatre work Nunzio (1994) which consacrated the artistic union of the duo Scimone-Sframeli. Rebus per Ada is the DVD realized by Fanny & Alexander, thanks to the editorial collaboration of Luca Sossella Editore. Lasting about 60 minutes, it picks up some rebuses invented or adapted by Stefano Bartezzaghi for the theatre work Ardis II, drawn on Vladimir Nabokov's Ada o ardore. Fifteen rebuses develop in about fifteen images. The movie, launched by the collaboration with Zapruder's video-makers, had appositely been re-edited as a game for this DVD, which will present to the costumer an interactive menu which will introduce him into the recreational mechanism. What can happen if the customer-spectator could decide the end of the story through the solution of the enigmas...
Ani, by Luigi De Angelis, is a short film inspired to a director's travel and it will be shown in Modena as absolute première. To conclude, the only stranger work pays homage to the creative genius of new Argentinean dramaturgy: Federico León who, in collaboration with Marcos Martinez, presents as Italian première Estrellas, a movie which has been produced with the money received from the prestigious Rolex Prize for his theatre work El adolescente, drawn on Dostoevskij'sI demoni. Estrellas is a sort of documentary on the life of Julio Arrieta, representative of the actors of the shantytown 21 of Barracas. Inside a sort of review the centre of the movie develops: that is the arrival of Martians in the shantytown. Arrieta asks himself why UFO never land in shantytown and thinks that even the inhabitants of these desolated places would deserve Martians. The movie succeeds in showing, in a light and smart way, the various impossibilities of deprivation.
