SETTE A TEBE
Seven against Thebes, the tragedy from which last work by Michela Lucenti takes inspiration contains the rhythmic features typical of Balletto Civile. The ethical study on body originates from the concept of individual responsibility, guilt, fatality. The empty space is a symbol of the desolation that comes after the battle. Lucenti sides with Polynices who wants revenge for his throne and for having been banned from the city by his brother, Eteocles. The two brothers kill each other in a bloody clash, but only Eteocles will be buried, while Polynices’body will be eaten by dogs. The stage, empty, is divided into seven gallows, one for each hero and corresponding to the seven gates of Thebes. In those spaces, seven Balletto Civile dancers will perform a restless dance, giving shape to a rhythmic war machine.
